Learn a new skill or find a new hobby with OKC Parks this weekend!
Cooking Skills
The Willa D. Johnson Recreation Center, 909 Fredrick Douglass Ave., is where young cooks will receive hands-on culinary training, personal development, proper etiquette and chivalry lessons. Weekly classes begin Jan. 19 at 2:30 p.m. Call (405) 297-1435 to register. This class is offered to elementary, middle school and high school students. The fee is $5 per student or free with a gold membership at Willa D. Johnson Recreation Center.
Water Aerobics
Make a splash and get in shape at the Willa D. Johnson Recreation Center, 909 Fredrick Douglass Ave. It’s a new year so take the plunge and sign up for Water Aerobics. Participants must be at least 16. Beginning Jan. 19, these classes are available four days a week on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday at 11 a.m. Classes are $5 per participant or free with a gold membership at Willa D. Johnson Recreation Center. To register, call (405) 297-1435.
Winter Garden Tour
Will Rogers Gardens, 3400 NW 36thSt., is holding its Winter Garden Tour Jan. 20 at 10 a.m. Meet in the Garden Exhibition Building. Grab a cup of hot chocolate, go for a quiet walk in the gardens and learn how to identify shrubs and trees in winter without their summer foliage and flowers. Registration ends Jan. 20 and is $5 per participant. There is no age restriction for this class.
Basketball FUNdamentals
The Willa D. Johnson Recreation Center, 909 Fredrick Douglass Ave., will host Basketball FUNdamentals. Participants will have the opportunity to learn and develop essential basketball skills while making new friends. Classes begin Jan.22 at 6 p.m. There is a fee of $5 per participant and free with a gold membership at Willa D. Johnson Recreation Center.
