Kids can experience a week of safari-inspired fun as the Zoo’s Spring Break Camp focuses on the new Expedition Africa habitat.
Campers ages 5 to 12 years old can enjoy a week of wild happenings with kids their own age under the care of the Zoo’s excellent education team. This year’s camp is themed around the Zoo’s exciting Expedition Africa habitat—home to the new Giraffe House, Predator Pass, and the renovated Love’s Pachyderm Building.
“The focus will be on African animals, their native habitats, and their wild counterparts,” said OKC Zoo’s Education Programs Manager, Erica Buckwalter. “Campers will have a chance to have personalized caretaker chats, take part in building enrichment materials before watching the animals engage with their creations, and interact with animal ambassadors in the classroom.”
The day camp includes classes for ages 5-6, 7-8, and 9-12, ensuring that campers enjoy educational activities perfect for their experience levels. Campers are dropped off between 8 and 8:30 a.m. at the Rosser Conservation Education Center before enjoying games, crafts, excursions into the Zoo, and learning centered on Expedition Africa.
“The students will journey to the Serengeti, the Congo Basin, and the Sahara Desert without ever leaving the Zoo,” Buckwalter said. “It’s the perfect camp for kids who love animals and nature and want to learn more about them with their peers.”
Spring Break Camp is for the entire week, Monday, March 18 through Friday, March 22. Single days of camp are not available. Admission is $300 per child for non-members and $270 per child for members. Campers must bring their own lunch and morning and afternoon snacks.

The Oklahoma City Zoo is in its winter hours and open Thursdays through Mondays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily with the last entry no later than 4 p.m., and closed to the public on Tuesdays and Wednesdays through February 7, 2024.
