In the dark hours of Tuesday morning around 2:04 a.m. MSgt. Keegan took up a pursuit of a car reported to have been used in a drive-by shooting in the 300 block of S.E. 43rd Street.

According to police, “The pursuit ended at an apartment complex in the 2400 block of SW 45th St. when the suspect, Dagan Oliver, bailed out of the car and fired shots at officers. MSgt. Keegan Burris returned fire.”

Oliver, “ran into the apartment and refused to come out” firing several more shots from inside.

Eventually, at 5:40 a.m. Oliver decided to come out of the apartment and surrendered to police who arrested and booked him in the Oklahoma County Detention Center on multiple complaints related to a “string of armed robberies” in the metro.

=> UPDATE — OKCPD have now released a compilation of body cam and dash cam videos of the encounter showing that eventually, patience and coaxing by police resulted in no bloodshed even though a number of shots had been fired both ways.

Burris is on routine administrative leave until an investigation concludes.

Note: As of publication, the information provided by the OKCPD has not yet been tested in court. Under the law, all persons are considered innocent until proven guilty before a jury of their peers or a plea of guilt.
