OKLAHOMA CITY — Due to the winter storm, a wide range of services by the City of Oklahoma City will be modified or closed on Friday, January 9. If you are in the metro but live in another municipality, check their websites and/or your email for updates.
Streets
Oklahoma City Public Works crews are salting and plowing snow routes 24/7 in 12-hour shifts until conditions improve. The City has 32 trucks equipped with salt spreaders and plows. Crews pretreated snow routes with a beet solution earlier this week.
• Avoid driving: Refrain from driving during hazardous conditions. If you must drive, ensure you have someone to call in case of being stranded. Move stranded vehicles off the road for safety.
• Stick to snow routes: Stay on City snow routes if driving is necessary. Visit okc.gov/prepare to view the snow route map.
• Safety around plows: Keep at least 200 feet between your vehicle and salt/plow trucks.
• Accident tracker: View injury and non-injury accidents at okc.gov.
• Neighborhood streets: These are not treated as part of snow routes.
Solid Waste Services
• Trash and recycling: Friday collection is postponed to Saturday, Jan. 11. Have carts at the curb by 6 a.m.
• Missed collection: Crews will collect any missed trash/recycling by 5 p.m. Saturday.
• Bulky waste: All routes for the week are completed.
• Cart services: Repairs and deliveries will resume next week.
• Storm debris: Cleanup from the Nov. 3 tornadoes is complete.
Municipal Court
• Closure: Court is canceled Friday, Jan. 10.
• Updates: Canceled sessions will be posted at oklahomaclosings.com. Defendants will receive new court dates. Payments can be made in person, by phone at (405) 297-3898, or online at okc.gov.
OKC Parks
• Closures: Recreation, community, performing arts, and senior centers, along with gyms, will be closed on Friday, Jan. 10. Lunch service at Pete White Health & Wellness Center is also canceled.
• Outdoor parks: Open from 5 a.m. to 11 p.m. Martin Park Nature Center and Will Rogers Gardens maintain regular hours.
• Cross Timbers ORV Park: Closed until further notice.
EMBARK Public Transit
• Service changes: Detours or stop closures may occur during significant snow/ice. Check updates or call (405) 235-7433.
• Senior programs: Call (405) 297-2583 for updates.
OKC Zoo
• Closure: Closed Friday, Jan. 10.
OKC Police
• Accidents: Officers are not responding to non-injury accidents. Exchange insurance information with other drivers if involved.
Oklahoma Natural Gas
• Operations: Functioning normally.
• Safety tips: Keep appliance vents clear, and carefully remove snow and ice. If you smell gas or hear hissing, leave the area, call 911, and notify Oklahoma Natural Gas at (800) 458-4251.
• Energy savings: Lower your thermostat, insulate your home, and delay heavy appliance use.
Support for unhoused individuals
Shelters provide overflow beds when temperatures drop below freezing. Visit keytohomeokc.org for details.

Contact your airline for flight updates before heading to the airport.
Animal welfare
• Cold-weather safety: Bring pets inside. If left outside, ensure they have adequate heated shelter.
• Risks: Prolonged exposure can cause frostbite or death, potentially leading to felony charges for neglect.
• Care tips: Dry pets’ paws and stomachs after outdoor exposure, and provide warm bedding inside.
Protecting pipes
• Indoors: Drip faucets along exterior walls. Open cabinets to circulate warm air.
• Outdoors: Turn off sprinklers, remove hoses, and insulate spigots.

• Energy management: Lower thermostats, use sunlight to heat rooms, and unplug unused appliances.
• Outages: Report downed power lines or outages at (800) 522-6870. Find warming centers at OGE.com/WarmingStations.
Winter safety tips
• Preparation: Keep non-perishable food, water, extra clothing, and medical supplies.
• Home heating: Use space heaters safely, and never use ovens for warmth.
• Driving: Winterize your vehicle, reduce speeds, and maintain safe distances.
