PRESS RELEASE: RTA to host public engagement events exploring future transit options in OKC

The Regional Transportation Authority of Central Oklahoma (RTA) sends this information as posted below:

Regional Transportation Authority to host public engagement events exploring future transit options in Oklahoma City for the West and Airport Corridors April 2024 RTA Board Meeting

The Regional Transportation Authority of Central Oklahoma (RTA) is launching another round of public engagement to share information on the latest updates on the study of the RTA’s West and Airport Corridors. This includes a virtual town hall, three pop-up events, and a survey. The project team is seeking input on transit priorities for each corridor to gain further understanding on what factors will drive future ridership.

RTA will host the virtual town hall on Tuesday, May 14, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. The meeting will take place on Zoom and can be accessed by visiting tinyurl.com/RTATownHall. Residents can learn more about the meeting and corridors under study by visiting RTAMoves.com.

In addition to the virtual event, RTA will host three pop-up events as detailed below:

EMBARK Downtown Transit Center Pop-Up

  • May 15, 2024 | 8 a.m. – noon

EMBARK Reno Mini-Hub Pop-Up

  • May 17, 2024 | 8 a.m. – noon

Scissortail Farmer’s Market Pop-Up

  • May 18, 2024 | 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.

The survey will be open from Wednesday, May 15, until Friday, May 31. The survey can be completed at the pop-up events and online at RTAMoves.com.

The RTA identified the West and Airport Corridors in the 2021 Transit System Plan as two regional corridors to be explored for high-capacity transit routes. Like the process recently completed for the North/South and East Corridors, the West and Airport Corridors are in development through the Alternatives Analysis process.

The West Corridor will connect downtown Oklahoma City to western Oklahoma City. The Airport Corridor will connect Will Rogers World Airport with downtown Oklahoma City. The high-potential alternatives for the RTA’s West and Airport Corridors are being evaluated to better understand the strengths of each potential alternative.
