OKLAHOMA CITY — With three beautiful children who all attend Santa Fe South charter schools and as a Health Alliance for the Uninsured referral coordinator, Dania H. is one busy lady, but as the single, hard-working mom has never been too busy to dream big about providing her family with a new home in a great neighborhood.
The Dania H. family will celebrate their new Habitat house with a home dedication with Central Oklahoma Habitat for Humanity staff, community members and representatives from the McLaughlin Family Foundation at 2:30 p.m. today (Jan. 23, 2025).
When Dania applied to participate in Central Oklahoma Habitat’s New Home Construction program, she stated in her application that she wanted her children to “feel safe” in their new home.
I’ve been renting for almost four years,” Dania H. said. “Owning a home means having a safe space for me and my loved ones. We are a very united and large family that always supports each other and is very happy.”
She stated that owning a Habitat home means her family will be more “stable, secure and (have) a higher quality of life.”
“Thank you very much for this opportunity that you have given me and my family,” Dania stated. “Thank you for all the good work you do for the community.”
Central Oklahoma Habitat Chair/CEO Ann Felton Gilliland said the many beautiful, well-built and energy-efficient homes at Habitat’s newest and largest affordable housing development, Cornerstone Creek, wouldn’t be possible without generous donations by sponsors like McLaughlin Family Foundation.
“Dania’s new home is our 1,118th home built since 1990 and it is the fourth Central Oklahoma Habitat home build sponsored by McLaughlin Family Foundation,” Felton Gilliland said. “Because of their generous $125,000 donation and due to donors like them, we’ve been blessed to be able to build houses for families that they can buy at cost and without a down payment – all helping to bring brighter futures for our limited- to moderate-income families. We are so grateful to the McLaughlin Family Foundation for helping us to build hope in Central Oklahoma and look forward to celebrating with them today at our home dedication.”
