PRESS RELEASE: OKC engineering firm awarded large U.S. Navy contract

Long Wave, Inc. sends this information as posted below:

Oklahoma City, OK – Long Wave Inc., an Oklahoma City engineering company, has been selected as a subcontractor to develop a new aircraft for the U.S. Navy. The $3.5 billion contract was awarded to the partnership team of Northrop Grumman Corporation (the prime contractor), Lockheed Martin Skunk Works, Raytheon, Crescent Systems, Inc. and Long Wave Inc.  The team has extensive knowledge and expertise in delivering critical command and control nuclear enterprise capabilities.

The team will deliver the new E-130J aircraft to provide airborne command, control and communications for U.S. nuclear forces. The new aircraft will feature advanced manufacturing, agile design, digital engineering and weapon system integration for the U.S. Navy’s Take Charge and Move Out (TACAMO) mission. The TACAMO mission provides connectivity between the National Command Authority and U.S. nuclear forces across the globe. The E-130J will modernize this critical mission and relieve the current fleet of E-6B Mercury aircraft of the TACAMO mission.

Long Wave’s role is to provide the systems engineering and training for pilots, Naval Flight Officers and the aircrew who operate and maintain the weapon systems. Long Wave will work closely with the other partners as the aircraft is designed, manufactured, tested and delivered to the Navy.

“Our systems training capabilities are well recognized nationally and we’re thrilled to be part of the team of experts who will develop this new asset for TACAMO,” said Chris Lozano, chief marketing officer of Long Wave.  “TACAMO is near and dear to our hearts at Long Wave.”

Long Wave was founded 27 years ago to support the TACAMO mission at Tinker Air Force Base (TAFB) and nearly 40% of Long Wave professionals are retired TACAMO Naval personnel. The TACAMO community has grown at TAFB since it moved headquarters there in 1992. Long Wave’s first project with TACAMO provided Very Low Frequency analysis that supported the connectivity with the nation’s submarine force. That experience led to Long Wave’s deepened defense expertise and long-term contracts with the U.S. Air Force including the high frequency global communication system at TAFB. This contract is ongoing and ensures that the U.S. nuclear forces can communicate globally during any wartime environment.

“Long Wave is in growth mode with a plan to hire over 100 additional professionals in systems engineering, software engineering, programmatic, and technical related roles to support the E-130J program and other growth initiatives,” said Emerald Adair, president of Long Wave.

Long Wave Inc. is a small business defense contractor headquartered in Oklahoma City, OK. The company specializes in the installation and maintenance of Very Low Frequency/Low Frequency/High Frequency (VLF/LF/HF) communication systems, software development and hardware installation, Nuclear Command and Control Communication, contract support services, and systems engineering.
