OKLAHOMA CITY, OK – JeKia Harrison, dedicated public servant, community leader, and small business owner has officially filed for the House District 97 Special Election. JeKia currently serves as a Legislative Assistant at the State Capitol, her experience navigating the state government and the relationships she has made have prepared her to be ready to work on day one to deliver real results for HD 97.
“From working at the Oklahoma Department of Human Services to being the President of Young Democrats of Oklahoma to being a Co-Chapter Lead for Oklahoma Moms Demand Action, a group working to reduce gun violence, I have worked in the community in a variety of ways. I am ready to take my service to the next level by representing my neighbors at the State Capitol,” Harrison said.
“The sanctuary of St. John CME Church in Spencer and halls of Millwood Public Schools have nurtured and raised me to be the woman I am today. This community has taught me to use my voice to make ‘Good Trouble.’ Service is a core value of my family’s and I have been waiting for my time to run for office and I am excited to finally step up,” Harrison said.
Affordable housing, great public schools, and quality healthcare are all priorities for Harrison’s campaign. She has already been working tirelessly, going door-to-door in HD 97 to meet voters where they are and listen to their concerns
“I am always ready to listen first and then problem solve for my community. HD 97 is ready for a new era of leadership and I am eager for the opportunity to earn their vote,” Harrison said.
The special primary election will be held on Tuesday, June 10th, if necessary a runoff will be held on Tuesday, August 12th, and a general election on Tuesday, September 9th.
