Emergency Update
Yesterday, the United States Department of Justice terminated our $2 million, 3-year grant to expand community violence intervention (CVI) program in Ward 7 of OKC.
We are disheartened by this unfortunate decision. It is a significant adversity to our work of building peace and reducing violence in Oklahoma City.
But we are not discouraged. Everyone at LiveFree OKC has stared down and overcome adversity before. We believe our work is something that is valued by Ward 7 and this city as a whole.
We do need help, however, to maintain the level of services we provide. Eliminating gun violence is too important. We are asking our friends and family, our neighborhoods and communities, our churches and fellow organizations, and the City of Oklahoma City and Oklahoma County-to help us now.
To those who are able, please support our work directly at www.livefreeokc.org/support. To our friends who can help us get the word out, please share your personal reasons why Live Free OKC is important to you, your community and this city on all platforms and tag us @livefreeokc.
