Oklahoma City attorneys sworn into state Bar Association board

Oklahoma City attorney Miles Pringle took an oath Jan. 19 to serve as the 2024 Oklahoma Bar Association president. Also sworn in were Jeff D. Trevillion for a three-year term as a member at large and Laura R. Talbert for a one-year term as the Young Lawyers Division chairperson. They were among nine attorneys sworn in to serve on the OBA’s 17-member Board of Governors during a ceremony at the state Capitol Courtroom in Oklahoma City.

“The bar association is in a good place today because of the leaders we’ve had. I hope to build upon that this year. This is a big honor for me, and I appreciate the privilege to serve as president,” Pringle said during his inaugural address. 

Pringle is the executive vice president and general counsel of The Bankers Bank in Oklahoma City. A native Oklahoman and third-generation attorney, he is licensed to practice law in Oklahoma, Missouri and Texas. He has served the OBA and the legal community for many years, including as governor and vice president of the OBA Board of Governors, chair of the OBA Financial Institutions and Commercial Law Section and chair of the OBA Legislative Monitoring Committee. In 2018, he was awarded the Oklahoma County Bar Association Geary L. Walke Briefcase Award, and in 2021 and 2022, he received the OBA President’s Award.    

He is also a recognized leader in the banking community and very involved in the Oklahoma City community. He has been a teacher for the Oklahoma Bankers Association Intermediate Banking School and other banking organizations. In 2022, Pringle was named on the 40 Under 40 list of national emerging community bank leaders by the Independent Community Bankers of America. He is also a board member of the Oklahoma City Rotary Club and has served on the boards of local nonprofits.

Trevillion is a director in the Oklahoma City office of Crowe & Dunlevy and a member of the firm’s Taxation Practice Group. He is an experienced trial lawyer and a certified public accountant who also chairs the Criminal Defense, Compliance & Investigations practice. Trevillion, a native Tulsan, has called Oklahoma City home for more than 20 years. His OBA service history includes the Professional Responsibility Tribunal, past president of the Oklahoma Bar Foundation, the Credentials Committee, the Strategic Planning Committee, the inaugural Leadership Academy and the Young Lawyers Division board. 

Talbert works for ISN Corp., the prime contractor for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to provide mortgage compliance manager services. She graduated from the OU College of Law in 2012 and worked as a prosecutor upon graduation. Before starting her own firm, she also worked for the General Counsel’s Office for the Oklahoma Department of Corrections.

Others sworn in for one-year terms were D. Kenyon Williams Jr. of Sperry as president-elect, Amber Peckio of Tulsa as vice president and Brian T. Hermanson of Ponca City as immediate past president.

Taking oaths for three-year terms to represent their respective Supreme Court judicial districts were William Ladd Oldfield of Ponca City, Philip D. Hixon of Tulsa and Chad A. Locke of Muskogee.

OBA leadership roles are voluntary positions in which lawyers serve while continuing to practice law. The board meets monthly and governs the 18,000-member association.

The Oklahoma Bar Association, headquartered in Oklahoma City, was created by the Oklahoma Supreme Court to advance the administration of justice and to foster and maintain learning, integrity, competence, public service and high standards of conduct among Oklahoma’s legal community.
