OK County DA files drug charges against former Jail detainees

OKLAHOMA CITY — Two former detainees in the Oklahoma County Detention Center (Jail) are facing felony drug charges in Oklahoma County for an alleged scheme to smuggle drugs into the Jail.

Charged are:

  • Jordan Kathleen Keith
  • Terrance Lee Burmood

Oklahoma County District Attorney Vicki Behenna filed the following charges against each of the two:

  • Conspiracy to commit a felony
  • Possession of controlled drug in jail/penal institution

The charges were filed on August 18 for acts that took place on October 10, 2022.

According to Jail spokesperson Mark Opgrande, Jail mailroom employees “alerted investigators about two suspicious packages addressed to a detainee. The packages appeared to be legal mail from a law firm in Oklahoma City, however, the packages were postmarked from Colorado.”

A Jail investigator found several pills were hidden inside, according to the press release. “OSBI testing revealed the pills were positive for fentanyl.”

Later in the month, the same detainee received an envelope with a postmark from Colorado.

“The envelope contained a card and five pictures. OSBI testing on those items were positive for methamphetamine,” according to the press release.

Keith is currently serving a sentence with the Oklahoma Department of Correction and Burmood lives out of state.

Burmood is being sought and once in custody will face extradition proceedings to return him to Oklahoma where he will face the charges.
