OKLAHOMA CITY – A shooting death in far northwest OKC is now the city’s 47th homicide of the year , with a man killed after beating on a neighbor’s door and fighting with the strangers inside.
After 8:00pm on Friday night, OKC police officers responded to a shooting call at a residence in the 2800 block of Indian Creek Blvd., near NW 122nd St. and May Ave.
When they arrived, they found 41-year-old Brandon Howell already deceased, appearing to have been shot to death.
According to police investigators, Howell had gone to the house and had begun beating on the door before a man inside answered and began fighting with Howell, resulting in Howell being shot and killed by someone in the home.
However, the residents say that they did not know Howell and no cause or explanation has been established for why he went to their house or why he tried to force his way in and fight with the residents inside.
The shooter remained on the scene and cooperated with the police’s questioning and investigation.
Following that interview, they were released and no arrest was made.
The case will be presented to the District Attorney’s office (as is standard procedure for any homicide case) and that office will determine if any arrests or charges shall be made at that time.
This is a developing story. Free Press will provide more information as it becomes available.
Note: Charges, information, or claims made by law enforcement have not yet been tested in court. Under the law, all persons are considered innocent until proven guilty before a jury of their peers or a plea of guilt.
