Latest homicide from street confrontation on west side of OKC

UPDATED Mon. Nov. 28 -- Homicide #70 for the City of OKC in 2022

OKLAHOMA CITY — A confrontation of some sort in the intersection of N.W. 10th and Meridian Avenue Friday resulted in the death of one person.

Officers from the Oklahoma City Police Department (OKCPD) were called to the intersection on the west side of the city around 2:35 p.m. Friday on reports of a shooting.

When they arrived, they found 31-year-old Devyn Hinkle “lying outside his vehicle in the roadway and shot multiple times,” according to an OKCPD press release issued Monday. (The original narrative from the weekend was that the victim had a single gunshot wound.)

Hinkle was transported to a local hospital, “where he died from his wounds,” according to the weekend OKCPD Public Information Officer.

According to the OKCPD PIO office, one arrest has been made in the shooting: Kasey Caleb McConville who just turned 25 the week before. Police were able to start tracking the suspect from eyewitness accounts at the scene describing a black hearse being driven by the one doing the shooting.

“Tips from the public led police to a house in the 2100 block of NW 35th St. where the hearse was found,” and McConville was arrested, according to the Monday press release.

Oklahoma County Detention Center (Jail) records show that McConville was booked at 10:01 p.m. Friday on a complaint of Murder in the First Degree. Bond was denied.
