Hit-and-run killing leads to homicide arrest in northwest OKC

OKLAHOMA CITY – A woman is dead from a hit-and-run in northwest OKC and police have arrested a suspect charged with hitting her intentionally with a vehicle.

Around 10:00am on the morning of Sunday, April 12th, OKC Police responded to a call about a pedestrian being been struck by a car in a neighborhood near NW 104th St. and Middlesbrough Lane in far northwestern Oklahoma City.

There they found 39-year-old Taisha Dale lying in the road and suffering from extensive injuries, but still alive.

The driver of the car that had hit her was no longer at the scene.

Officers attempted to render aid and called emergency services to transport Dale to an area hospital, where she died a short time later.

Investigators on the scene of the hit-and-run gathered information that led them to 30-year-old Deawna Jones.

Jones is suspected of having an argument with Dale near the scene.

Police claim that argument elevated and resulted in Jones intentionally hitting Dale with her car and fleeing the scene.

Jones was located Sunday evening and booked into the Canadian County Jail facing charges of first-degree murder and leaving the scene of a fatal accident.

As police claim that the hit-and-run that killed Dale was an intentional act, her death will be recorded as the 19th homicide for OKC in 2026.

Note: Charges, information, or claims made by law enforcement have not yet been tested in court. Under the law, all persons are considered innocent until proven guilty before a jury of their peers or a plea of guilt.
