OKLAHOMA CITY – A woman was found dead in a northwest Oklahoma City apartment complex and police now have a suspect in custody for what will be recorded as the city’s 45th homicide in 2026.
Just after 1:00pm Tuesday afternoon, police were called to an apartment complex at NW 39th St. and Altadena Ave., near I-44, to investigate a dead body found in one of the apartments.
The deceased was identified as 45-year-old Starla Harp.
Detectives determined that injuries found on Harp’s body were consistent with homicide and were able to develop a suspect for the killing, 43-year-old Marcus McKinney, but police did not disclose what those injuries were or what evidence led to indentifying McKinney as a suspect.
McKinney was later located near NW 63rd and Meridian Ave. and was booked into the Oklahoma County Detention Center on Wednesday on a first-degree murder complaint.
