Extra day added to early voting in Oklahoma – begins Wed, Nov 2

OKLAHOMA CITY — In this election season, early voting begins Wednesday, November 2 in Oklahoma, a change from the previous Thursday start for early voting before an election. An extra day of early voting was added by the Legislature in 2021 and is in effect this year.

Early voting in Oklahoma is done by way of an absentee ballot cast in person on designated days before voting day at a central, secure voting location set by each county’s election board.

The regular voting day is Tuesday, Nov. 8 at your local precinct polling place from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

What else you need to know

  • No excuse is needed to cast an in-person absentee ballot, but voters should be prepared to show proof of identity when they check in with election workers.
  • Voters wishing to vote early must vote at an early voting location in the county where they are registered to vote.
  • Sample ballots are available through the OK Voter Portal
  • The election list can be found on the State Election Board website.
  • Voters with questions should contact their County Election Board.
  • Absentee ballots that are returned by mail must be received by the voter’s County Election Board no later than 7 p.m. on Election Day. The United States Postal Service recommends that voters mail their absentee ballots no later than Tuesday, November 1.
  • Voters who requested a “standard” absentee ballot (yellow affidavit) have the option to hand deliver their voted ballot to their County Election Board during regular business hours. Ballots must be returned no later than the Monday prior to the election. A valid proof of identity is required when dropping off your absentee ballot and your affidavit must be notarized. Voters are reminded that it is against the law to submit an absentee ballot on behalf of another person.
