OKLAHOMA CITY — The victim of an assault in February died Tuesday in the hospital prompting police to add a First Degree Murder complaint to the suspect’s booking.
The death marks homicide #10 for the City of Oklahoma City in 2025.
Alisha Dawne Campbell Spencer, 38, was badly beaten, strangled, and left in a parking lot at SW 29th and May around 2:30 AM on February 17 according to SSgt. Dillon Quirk with the Oklahoma City Police Department.
Arriving patrol officers had her transported to an area hospital for treatment.
Shortly after police responded to the call, detectives determined that their suspect was Julian Lee Rodriguez, 38.
Rodriguez was arrested further west in the city at a motel in the 4300 block of W. Reno Avenue and booked into the Oklahoma County Detention Center.
He was booked at the time for three domestic assault complaints.
Spencer died from her injuries received from the assault on Tuesday at 9:46 AM.
In response, police added the complaint of First Degree Murder to the list of complaints filed at the initial booking in February.
Now, Rodriguez is still in the OCDC with a $10 million bond having been set by the judge.
The current complaints are:
- First Degree Murder
- Domestic Assault and Battery
- Domestic Assault and Battery Resulting in Great Bodily Harm
- Domestic Assault and Battery by strangulation

This case will be presented to the District Attorney’s Office, which will ultimately determine whether charges will be filed.
