Another death in a homeless camp is latest homicide for OKC

-- Homicide #58 for OKC in 2022

OKLAHOMA CITY (Free Press) — The Oklahoma City Police Department is counting the death of a person in a homeless camp as Oklahoma City’s latest homicide.

Details are thin at this point and Free Press will update this report as more information is gained.

Police were called to a make-shift homeless camp near S.E. 27th Street and Santa Fe Avenue around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday.

They found one person dead “inside a tent with injuries consistent with homicide,” reports OKCPD Sgt. Dillon Quirk in a press release.

Authorities are still trying to make contact with the person’s next of kin and have not released their name.

Second homeless camp homicide

This follows another homicide in a homeless camp in August. The two suspects in that case have been arrested.

OKCPD is asking anyone with any information to contact the Homicide Tip Line at 405/297-1200.
