One dead in north OKC homeless camp, two booked for murder

-- Homicide #51 for OKC in 2022

OKLAHOMA CITY (Free Press) — One person was found dead in a homeless camp on Oklahoma City’s northside Saturday. Two have been arrested and booked for murder.

Officers with the Oklahoma City Police Department (OKCPD) were called to a homeless camp near N. Western and Kilpatrick Turnpike Service Road Saturday morning around 8:15 after receiving reports of a dead person there.

The large tracts of open, unimproved land in the area have been the site of several well-known homeless camps for over a decade.

Once police investigated, they “located one person dead from injuries consistent with homicide,” the OKCPD press release said.

Authorities have not released the name of the deceased pending notification of next-of-kin.

After an investigation at the scene, police arrested 20-year-old James Guillory and 18-year-old Sierra McCoy-Griffen. They were then taken to the Oklahoma County Detention Center (Jail) and each booked on complaints of first-degree murder.
