A mass of campaign signs seemed to spring up overnight blocks north and south of the entrance to the Oklahoma County Election Board in Oklahoma City Thursday morning.
Primary election early voting started Thursday morning in Oklahoma and will continue through Saturday for those willing to travel to their county election boards.
This year even more signs than usual filled the median and west side of Lincoln because the primary election has so many candidates for the contested seats.
And, the hot-button issue of State Question 788 that would allow the regulated use of medical marijuana is also on this ballot, adding even more interest.
The primary election will narrow a crowded field of several candidates from each party for many state offices.
In addition, races for Oklahoma County offices include a busy Oklahoma County Commissioner race this year where multiple candidates are running for both seats from the Democratic and Republican Parties.
Three county commissioners run the day-to-day business of Oklahoma County. For continuity of transition, one of the seats is open for election in the off years from the other two.

Dedicated volunteers were out around sunup Thursday to put out campaign signs for their favored candidates along the median for several blocks in either direction of the Oklahoma County Election Board, 4201 N. Lincoln Boulevard.
It’s allowed because the county-owned building is set back nearly a block into the property from the street.
So, campaign signs placed right up to the drive entrance are still beyond the setback of 300 feet required by Oklahoma election laws.

Early voting times across the state are:
Thursday, June 21, 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Friday, June 22, 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Saturday, June 23, 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
The deadline for having absentee ballots mailed to voters has passed.
What is commonly referred to as early voting is where voters go to their county election boards to cast an in-person absentee ballot.
The official primary election day is Tuesday, June 26 at precinct locations from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
