OKLAHOMA CITY — A juvenile has died from gunshot wounds in what police believe was the mishandling of a firearm by another juvenile.

Police are counting the death as homicide #46 for the City of Oklahoma City in 2024.

A’moni Young, 13 was suffering from a gunshot wound when police arrived at a residence in the 700 block of NW 118th Street Monday morning at 1:41 AM.

She was transported to the OU Medical Center where she died.

Another juvenile, Albert Carbajal, 15, was with her at the time. Police believe he is responsible for the shooting.

The investigation is in the early stages but police now believe that the two were handling a loaded gun and when Young was shot.

Carbajal has been booked into the Juvenile Detention Center on complaints of Murder in the Second Degree according to MSgt. Gary Knight with the Oklahoma City Police Department.

Police are still investigating this shooting and urge anyone with information to call the Homicide Tip Line at 405/297-1200.
