OKLAHOMA CITY — A jailed man suspected of setting two people on fire in July 2024 now has a new murder complaint added to an already long list of charges.
Samantha Dawn Richardson, 25, died in the hospital Thursday after suffering from severe burns she received on July 16, 2024 around 6:30 AM.
The death is being counted as homicide #13 for the City of Oklahoma City in 2025.
She and another person not identified by the Oklahoma City Police Department were set on fire as they slept in an open field near the 900 block of W. Hefner Road.
Both were taken to the hospital for treatment.
A witness who saw the two on fire helped them extinguish the flames.
Police believe victims were intentionally set on fire by suspect Michael Madison who in July fled the scene but returned later, was arrested, and booked into the Oklahoma County Jail.
Madison has been in jail on a $1,000,000 bond since his original booking on July 16, 2024.
On July 24, 2024, the DA’s office charged Madison with
- two counts of Attempted Murder,
- two counts of Arson, and
- two counts of Maiming.
As of Richardson’s death Thursday, “a complaint of First Degree Murder has been affixed,” said SSgt. Dillon Quirk in a press release issued Monday.
Police urge anyone with information to call the Homicide Tip Line at 405/297-1200.
