Victim identified, two arrests made in Eastside OKC shooting

OKLAHOMA CITY — Authorities have identified the victim of a shooting on Oklahoma City’s Eastside Friday and two suspects are in custody. The victim died at the hospital.

The death marks Homicide #9 for the City of Oklahoma City in 2024.

On Friday, February 23, patrol officers with the Oklahoma City Police Department were sent to a convenience store parking lot at NE 36th and Kelley on reports of a shooting.

When they arrived, one person was found to have been shot multiple times according to the press release.

Information officers gathered initially was that three people on foot had been fired upon by a group of suspects in a car that drove up near to them in the parking lot of the convenience store.

Jamir James, 19 was in the group fired upon and was transported to an area hospital where he underwent surgery for hours. However, James eventually succumbed to his wounds and was pronounced dead.

Others hit with gunfire received “non-life-threatening wounds” according to police.

Suspects

Police were able to identify two suspects and book them.

Ziyon Larkins is being held for the shooting in the Oklahoma County Detention Center on a First Degree Murder complaint with a $10 million bond. Larkins is also being held on complaints of:

  • Assault and Battery with a Dangerous weapon
  • Trafficking in illegal drugs
  • Obstructing officer
