-- Homicide #65 for the City of Oklahoma City in 2024

OKLAHOMA CITY – A shooting in the parking lot of an Eastside restaurant took one life Friday.

So far, police say they don’t know much of anything else except the identity of the victim as the investigation begins.

A call to 911 about shots being fired in the area of NE 36th and Kelley Avenue sent patrol officers with the Oklahoma City Police Department on a search around 8:25 PM Friday.

They found DaShawn Davis, 20, in the parking lot of a restaurant at 3340 N. Kelley Avenue who was pronounced dead at the scene.

“Gun violence is a community health crisis,” local community leader Jabee Williams said in a news conference at the scene. He is the executive director of LiveFree OKC, a community-based violence prevention program that equips local leaders to address the root causes of gun violence.

“It’s past time for us to make sure that people are getting the resources and services they need so that they aren’t caught up in these cycles of violence,” said Williams.

On Monday morning police said the investigation is in its early stages with no arrests being made so far.

The death is homicide #65 for the City of Oklahoma City in 2024.

They urge anyone with information to call their Homicide Tip Line at 405/297-1200.
