Two shot in parking garage after ‘fight’ in County Courthouse

-- UPDATED with one suspect arrested

OKLAHOMA CITY — UPDATED — A fight or dispute of some sort that started on the eighth floor of the Oklahoma County Courthouse ended with two people being shot in the parking garage nearby.

One suspect, 18-year-old Xzavier Samilton, was arrested by the Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Office Thursday and is in the Oklahoma County Detention Center.

Aaron Brilbeck with the Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Office (OSCO) said that a “fight” occurred on the eighth floor of the courthouse between members of two rival gangs but so far there is no other indication that gang affiliation was a factor in the altercation.

The dispute continued into the parking garage at Hudson and Robert S. Kerr across the street from the Oklahoma County Courthouse Annex.

After an adult man and an adult woman were shot, neither made calls for help and were driven to a local hospital in private vehicles.

As deputies crossed Robert S. Kerr Avenue to investigate the sounds of gunshots, a call came into the Sherriff’s Office from a local hospital alerting deputies of two gunshot victims in their ER.

The wounds are “non-life-threatening” according to Brilbeck.

According to Brilbeck, neither has agreed to cooperate with OSCO investigators so far and neither have witnesses.

Sherriff Tommie Johnson III said in a press conference Thursday that their video recordings showed clearly who was involved. When they showed those images to Oklahoma City Police, they were able to identify the suspect.
