OKLAHOMA CITY — Within 24 hours two people were shot to death and one stabbed to death in Oklahoma City over the weekend.
The three killings are homicides 33, 34, & 35 for the City of Oklahoma City in 2024.
To compare, a total of 75 homicides were recorded in OKC by the end of 2023.
Homicide #33
Sunday, May 26, at 5:30 PM patrol officers with the Oklahoma City Police Department (OKCPD) were dispatched to 1741 Pettee Avenue in Will Rogers Courts between Stockyards City and the Wheeler District.
They were responding to reports of a shooting.
Officers found the victim, April Coppock, dead inside her residence. “She appeared to have been shot to death,” according to OKCPD MSgt Gary Knight in a press release.
No arrests have been made so far.
Homicide #34
Later Sunday, at 10:30 PM, OKCPD patrol officers responded to a shooting at 1450 Westwood, again in Will Rogers Courts.
When they arrived, officers found “a male shooting victim on the front porch of the residence.”
The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
His name is being withheld pending notification to next-of-kin.
At publication, police have made no arrests for this case.

Then, Monday at 5:05 patrol officers were dispatched to 4716 Shallow Book Dr. near SE 44th and I-35 to check the welfare the person who lives there.
When they arrived they found a woman dead in the residence with the appearance of having “been stabbed to death.”
“Investigators developed information implicating Telly Craig in the woman’s death,” said MSgt Knight.
Craig was taken into custody later that evening and eventually booked into the Oklahoma County Jail on a complaint of Murder in the First Degree.
