Three children among five dead in suspected murder-suicide

-- Homicides #52 - 55 for the City of Oklahoma City in 2023

OKLAHOMA CITY — Five people are dead, three of them children, from what police believe was a murder-suicide in westside Oklahoma City late Wednesday.

The grandfather of the three children and father of the woman was the one who found the five when he arrived later, Oklahoma City Police Department Captain Valerie Littlejohn told Free Press. He has been living there, also, and is the one who told officers about the relationships when they arrived.

The adult victim and the suspect “were married but separated. It appears that Mr. Armendariz shot the four victims before turning the gun on himself,” reads a news release from OKCPD.

The following is information provided by the OKCPD:

Victim:  Flores, Cassandra (H/F, DOB: 6/13/1994)

Victim:  Armendariz, Hillary (H/F, 9 YOA)

Victim:  Armendariz, Damaris (H/F, 5 YOA)

Victim:  Armendariz, Matias (H/M, 2 YOA)

Deceased Suspect:  Armendariz, Ruben (H/M, DOB: 12/31/1994)

The homicides were at 7405 NW 5th Terrace in westside Oklahoma City about ten miles from downtown near the intersection of N. Rockwell and NW 10th Street.

OKCPD officers were sent to the address around 11:26 PM Wednesday responding to a domestic disturbance call.

When officers arrived they found all five people “suffering from gunshot wounds, three of whom were deceased.”

Ruben Armendariz, the suspect, was still alive as was one of the children. Both were transported to the hospital where they were pronounced dead.

These deaths represent homicides 52, 53, 54, 55 for the City of Oklahoma City in 2023.

The investigation is still in its early stages as detectives begin to put together information about what happened and the background.

Anyone with information should call the Homicide Tip-Line at 405/297-1200.
