Stabbing victim dies — arrest warrant issued for suspect

OKLAHOMA CITY — A victim of a stabbing that occurred in the last days of December died at the hospital January 3.

The death of Ricardo Ramos Rangel,40, is being counted as homicide #1 for the City of Oklahoma City in 2024.

Patrol officers with the City of Oklahoma City Police Department were called to an apartment complex parking lot on Saturday, December 23, 2023 near the intersection of SW 39th St. and S. Penn Ave on reports of an assault.

When they arrived, they found Ramos Rangel had been stabbed, and had him transported to the hospital. That victim then died in surgery on January 3, 2024 at 4:57 PM.

A suspect in the case, Enrique Zárate Cano, 32, was arrested at the scene of the stabbing December 23 and has since bonded out of jail.

But upon the death of the victim, a warrant for the suspect’s arrest has been issued for murder in the first degree.
