OKLAHOMA CITY – A shooting in northwest OKC over the weekend has now been ruled a homicide after the teenage victim died in the hospital Tuesday, leaving police with no arrests and little information as to what led to the killing.
In the early hours of Sunday, May 31st, shortly after 3:00am, Oklahoma City police were alerted to a shooting call in the 1100 block of N. MacArthur Blvd, near NW 10th St.
Once at the scene, officers say they found 17-year-old Freejohn Eberson lying on the ground alive, but suffering from having been shot.
Eberson was taken to an area hospital to undergo emergency treatment.
On Tuesday, June 2nd, police were informed that Eberson had died of his injuries the hospital.
The shooting has been upgraded to a homicide, the 31st for OKC this year, but police again say they have no arrests and no further information to report, asking anyone with any knowledge or information about the shooting to contact the Homicide Tip-Line at (405) 297-1200.
Eberson’s death marks the fourth homicide in OKC since early May that has seen no arrests so far, and the third that police say has provided no leads and no information about what led to the killing.
