Norman, OK – May 1, 2025 – Uncanny Art House is proud to present Queer Joy, a dynamic month-long celebration honoring LGBTQIA+ creativity, expression, and resilience through art, performance, music, and community. Curated by the Unicorn Workers United, Queer Joy will kick off during Norman’s 2nd Friday Art Walk on May 9th from 6PM-9PM and will include weekly events every Saturday in May, concluding with a community art night on May 31st.
The exhibition features original visual works submitted by queer and allied artists across Oklahoma and beyond. It will debut a traveling library that will continue to showcase queer literature in different locations around the metro and much more. Centering themes of self-expression, empowerment, and joy, the show invites audiences to celebrate the beauty and strength of queer identity in all its forms. Participating artists can be found at our website and below is an overview of the events planned for the month of May.

Returning in the spirit of Uncanny’s original erotic showcase, Draglesque is a bold, immersive evening of drag, burlesque, and unapologetic queer expression. Featuring a curated lineup of OKC metro performers, the night promises a multisensory experience of glam, tease, and artistry. VIP ticket holders will receive exclusive access to a private area, catered refreshments, and a shadow dance intermission. The official after party takes place at The Opolis and features DJ Bi-Furious.

It’s a relaxed, affirming space to wind down the month, make connections, and celebrate the artists who filled the gallery with queer joy.
