Historic property homeowners, window repair craftsmen or anyone interested in learning about wood window restoration are invited to a two-day, hands-on Wood Window Restoration Workshop Sept. 14-15 at the Harn Homestead, 1721 N Lincoln Blvd.
The two-day workshop will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on both days. Participants will complete an actual restoration project by the end of Sept. 15. The City’s Historic Preservation Commission is partnering with window repair experts from Old Home Rescue to lead the workshop. They will guide participants through cleaning and repairing wood windows in a historic home.
Participants will learn:
- Basic window structure.
- Unsticking windows.
- Paint and glazing removal.
- Epoxy repairs.
- Glazing.
- Glass replacement.
- Painting wood windows.
Learning how to clean, restore, and repair wood windows can help preserve your home’s historic character, increase energy efficiency and avoid costly replacements.
Register at eventbrite.com. Spots are limited. The $30 registration fee includes all materials and lunch on both days. Participants should be prepared for a full day’s work and expect to get dirty.
