The City of Oklahoma City and the Community Public Safety Advisory Board send this information as posted below:
Everyone is invited to attend a Community Public Safety Advisory Board (CPSAB) Ward 2 info session at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 24. The free event will be held in the Will Rogers Gardens, Exhibition Center, 3400 NW 36th St. and is open to the public.
The CPSAB is an independent committee that reviews the complaint process and investigation results involving public safety officers.
Topics will include OKCPD complaint/compliment forms, the complaint investigative process, and number and types of cases reviewed by the CPSAB.
Speakers are Ward 2 Councilperson James Cooper, Ward 2 Community Public Safety Advisory Board member Nicole Maldonado and OKC’s Public Safety Partnership Implementation Manager Andrea Grayson.
“We are passionate about building trust between OKC residents and public safety through transparency, education and communication,” Councilperson Cooper said. “I hope people join us for a brief part of their evening to learn about important work four years in the making – public safety improvements including our city’s first alternative response to 911 mental health calls, clarity regarding where residents submit police complaints and compliments and accountability work the CPSAB provides regarding policing.”
Register for the Ward 2 information session here: https://lp.constantcontactpages.com/sl/8Uo8JGX/ward2. Registration is requested but not required.
“The advisory board plays an integral role in enhancing community trust and confidence through education and communication,” Grayson said. “This information session and others that will take place in wards throughout Oklahoma City in the coming months, provides a chance for people to learn about the board’s activities and purpose in enhancing public safety for all residents.”
The Community Public Safety Advisory Board is a product of the Public Safety Partnership. The board’s creation was one of 39 recommendations included in the report received by City Council in March 2022 to enhance public safety for Oklahoma City residents. The board’s work, administrative support for the board, and public education address four recommendations from the report.
