(OKLAHOMA CITY) – April 15, 2026 – Thanks to generous donors and supporters, the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma’s Senior Match campaign will help provide more than 837,000 meals to Oklahoma seniors facing hunger.
The match was made possible thanks to the Masonic Charity Foundation of Oklahoma, who matched all donations up to $50,000, dollar-for-dollar.
“We are incredibly thankful to everyone who gave during the Senior Match,” said Stacy Dykstra, chief executive officer of the Regional Food Bank. “Your generosity ensures that thousands of seniors across our state will have nutritious meals on their table.”
Donations to the Regional Food Bank were matched throughout March. Overall, the match raised $279,029.
“No Oklahoman who spent a lifetime building our communities should have to face their golden years in hunger,” said John Logan, executive director of the Masonic Charity Foundation of Oklahoma. “We commend the Regional Food Bank for its tireless work, but the reality is that this is a burden we must all share. Oklahoma can, and must, do better for our elders.”
Oklahoma ranks in the top 10 states in the nation for food insecurity among seniors. Donations will have an incredible impact on seniors like Peggy, who has been coming to God’s Food Pantry in Guthrie since 2014. Peggy is a grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother. With the food pantry just across the street from her house, she says this place has made a tremendous difference in her life, keeping her from having to choose between food and vital medications.
“After I pay my bills, the groceries are so darn high now and I need food, medicine and gasoline. I only have $200 left after I pay my bills, and that’s to buy food for the whole month, so I have to have some help,” she says. “Yeah, if it wasn’t here, I don’t know what I’d do.”
Food for Oklahoma seniors is provided through food pantries, emergency shelters and senior nutrition programs and through the following Regional Food Bank’s Food for Seniors Programs:
- The Senior Home Delivery Program – Through a partnership with EMBARK, the Oklahoma City metro area transit system, the Regional Food Bank delivers food boxes each month to homebound residents who are 60 years of age or older and identified as being food insecure and unable to get to a food pantry. In addition, the Regional Food Bank uses volunteers to make weekly home deliveries to metro area households who meet the USDA requirements (200% of poverty level) and are unable to visit a food pantry.
- The Senior Pantry Program – Offers an on-site shopper-choice pantry where the residents are able to visit and shop for fresh prepared food from the Senior Servings Program, shelf-stable food and fresh produce.
