Oklahoma City, OK, August 6, 2024 — The Oklahoma City-County Health Department is proud to announce that Dr. Patrick McGough, DNP, MSHR, RN, CHA, Chief Executive Officer and Chief Health Officer, has been elected as Vice President of the National Association of County and City Health Officials (NACCHO) Board of Directors for the 2024-2025 term. Dr. McGough began his tenure on July 1, 2024, and will succeed to the role of NACCHO Board President-Elect on July 1, 2025.

Dr. McGough, who joined the Oklahoma City-County Health Department in 2008 and became CEO in 2020, expressed his enthusiasm for the new role. “I am absolutely thrilled and honored to be serving as Vice President,” he said. “NACCHO is a cornerstone for public health across our nation, providing invaluable resources, educational opportunities, and advocacy that strengthen every local public health department. I look forward to contributing to NACCHO’s mission and helping to advance the health of communities nationwide.”

With 39 years of experience as a Registered Nurse and extensive expertise in clinical and community health, Dr. McGough has been a transformative leader in Oklahoma’s public health landscape. He holds a Doctoral Degree in Nursing Practice/Executive Leadership from Oklahoma City University. His leadership in public health has been recognized with numerous recognitions, including being named an Emerging Leader in Public Health by The Kresge Foundation in 2017.

Under Dr. McGough’s leadership, the Oklahoma City-County Health Department has continued to build on its legacy of public health excellence. The department was one of the first in the nation to achieve accreditation by the Public Health Accreditation Board, a testament to its commitment to delivering health and wellness services to the community.

NACCHO, which represents over 3,300 local governmental health departments across the United States, plays a critical role in supporting public health initiatives, advocacy, and partnerships at the local level.
