PRESS RELEASE: OKCPS enrollment for 2024-25 school year now open

Oklahoma City Public Schools (OKCPS) sends this information as posted below:

OKCPS has opened districtwide enrollment for the 2023-24 school year. Public schools are essential to the success of any community. No matter their zip code, all students deserve access to a world class education. OKCPS has a seat for every child. OKCPS celebrates our uniqueness and diversity by providing every student with a place where they can be themselves, feel welcome and have a sense of belonging.

The district is encouraging families to enroll all their students now so that they have one less thing to worry about when classes begin August 10. Enrollment can be completed 100% online, making it the most convenient option for families. Both new to OKCPS and returning students can be enrolled online. Families can find all available back to school details at www.okcps.org/enroll.

For families who wish to enroll their student(s) in person, the district will be hosting Enrollment PODs where families can make one stop, at one school, and complete the enrollment process for all of their students. In-person assistance will be available to families in English and Spanish. OKCPS can also support families who speak a language other than English or Spanish using our over the phone interpretation tool. Every school site (with the exception of our application schools) will be open for the first PODs on Saturday, April 15 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. The district also plans to host enrollment PODs over the summer and will communicate this information with families as soon as it’s available.

A few reasons why many families are choosing OKCPS are:

OKCPS students can choose to learn in-person five days a week this fall or enroll with e3 Online Learning. Our online learning program is set apart by allowing students to participate in in-person extracurriculars such as sports or music, if they choose. Students are also still a part of their assigned neighborhood school and have the option to participate in school level activities like family nights or other programs. e3 Online Learning courses are monitored and supported by OKCPS teachers, counselors, school psychologists, special education teachers and administrators.

Families who are considering a transfer will need to complete and submit the transfer application by April 15. As a reminder, OKCPS has free, full-day Pre-K spots available for any student within our district boundaries, without a waitlist or lottery. Families outside district boundaries are also invited to apply for a Pre-K transfer and join the OKCPS family! Families can learn more about the transfer process by visiting www.okcps.org/transfer

“Choosing OKCPS is choosing a customizable high quality education that can include students learning in traditional neighborhood schools, from home in our virtual learning program, e3 or excelling in one of our highly regarded application schools,” said OKCPS Superintendent Dr. Sean McDaniel. “Regardless of the path your student takes in OKCPS, they will graduate ready to fulfill their unique purpose in a healthy, vibrant community.”

A few other helpful tips for families:

  • If your student(s) needs immunizations for the fall, it’s not too early to get those now. Learn what vaccinations are required by state law by visiting the Vaccines for School page of the Oklahoma State Department of Health website.
  • If families need a birth certificate, they will need to request one from the Oklahoma State Department of Health. Summer and early fall are very busy for the Vital Records Office, so families should consider starting that process now. OSDH recommends using their online request form for the quickest turnaround.
