The City of OKC sends this information as posted below:
Oklahoma City is developing a Vision Zero plan to eliminate deadly crashes on our public roadways. The goal is to protect all road users and create a safer, more equitable mobility system for all. The City of Oklahoma City received federal grant funding from the U.S. Department of Transportation to develop a safety plan that will address severe and fatal traffic collisions across the city.
Vision Zero is a strategy to eliminate all traffic fatalities and severe injuries, while increasing safe, healthy, equitable mobility for all. First implemented in Sweden in the 1990s, Vision Zero has proved successful across Europe, and now it’s gaining momentum in most major American cities. The strategy acknowledges that many factors contribute to safe mobility — including roadway design, speeds, behaviors, technology, and policies — and sets clear goals to achieve the shared goal of zero fatalities and severe injuries.
Public input and engagement are key to a collaborative and equitable Vision Zero Plan. Take the survey and/or contribute to the map survey at the link below to share your input.
