PRESS RELEASE: OKC Parks offer Halloween fun for all ages

Oklahoma City Parks & Recreation invites the community to join in the family fun during the Halloween Harvest celebration, along with a host of other fall activities. 

Halloween Harvest will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 31, at six locations throughout the city. These come-and-go events are free, and registration is not required. Activities vary by location, but highlights include trick-or-treating, games, face painting, arts and crafts, food and surprises. Glow-in-the-dark sports are even planned for the Southern Oaks Community Center.

OKC Parks also has several other fall activities planned for October: 

Haunted holiday at NW Optimist

Artists ages 9-18 will spend the week building a haunted house and then unleash their spooky creation for the public. Students will dress up and scare visitors when the haunted house is open to visitors from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 18 and Saturday, Oct. 19. 

8 a.m. to 5 p.m. 

Monday, Oct. 14, through Friday, Oct. 18

Martin Park After Dark

Experience the magic of Martin Park after dark with our Park After Dark Hike. Discover the amazing creatures that come out when the sun goes down. Our naturalists will lead participants through the park, sharing their knowledge and insights on wildlife along the way. Two events are scheduled: one for all ages and one for adults.  

7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. 

Friday, Oct. 18, for ages 18 and older

Saturday, Oct. 19, for families and all ages

Registration: $5

Martin Park Nature Center, 5000 W Memorial Road

Halloween on the Green

Come enjoy a host of fall-themed activities at Will Rogers Gardens, including trick-or-treating, face-painting, crafts, and sugar skull decorating. Participants will be able to pot their own plant to take home. All ages are welcome, but this event is designed for children ages 11 and younger.

9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Oct. 26

Registration: $5

Will Rogers Gardens, 3400 NW 36th St.

Phantom of the Park Halloween Softball Tournament

Gather a co-ed team and come join the fun at this Halloween-themed softball tournament. Costumes are encouraged. The tournament is double-elimination and limited to 12 teams.

10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26

Registration: $135 plus umpire fees

Wheeler Park, 1120 S Western Ave. 

Ghost Stories in Martin Park

Gather around to hear tales of ghosts, ghouls, and other mysterious creatures that haunt the park. This event is open to all ages, but some stories may be a bit too spooky for the youngest visitors. 

6:30 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26

Registration: Free, not required

Halloween Trunk-or-Treat

Join us for an adaptive trick-or-treat in partnership with Sooner Success. This event will also include games, art projects, and a resource fair. 

6:30 to 8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 28

Registration: Free, not required

Sellers Community Center, 8301 S Villa Ave.

Adaptive Martin Park Nature Hike

Learn about Oklahoma’s native animals during this special hike that is open to all mobility levels. Participants will have the chance to touch a few of our friendly Martin Park animal residents before heading out for a hike along the new accessible trail. This program is open to all ages and is designed for visitors with physical or mental differences. 

11 a.m. to noon Thursday, Oct. 31

Registration: Free but required
