Oklahoma City, OK – October 15, 2024 – Faith Partners, in collaboration with the Oklahoma Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services (ODMHSAS), is offering a free virtual interactive 4-part training series designed to equip clergy and pastoral care workers with the knowledge and skills to respond effectively to addiction and mental health issues in their congregations. Faith Partners is a nationally recognized organization with decades of experience in supporting faith communities around addiction and mental health.

When: Tuesdays & Thursdays, October 15th, 17th, 22nd and 24th at 6:30pm-8:30pm

This program, titled “Addiction Survival Kit for Clergy,” will provide essential tools for clergy and pastoral care workers to:

  • Understand the impact of addiction on individuals and families
  • Support family members and friends experiencing addiction and related mental health challenges
    Demonstrate critical self-care practices
    Foster collaboration between clergy, staff, and laity to create supportive recovery and prevention activities within congregations
    Offer 7 CEUs

 Who Should Attend:

  • All Clergy and Faith Leaders: All faith leaders are welcome to attend, the event is not exclusively Christian. Everyone can learn more about supporting their communities in addressing addiction and mental health.
  • Social Workers and Behavioral Health Professionals: Individuals in the mental health field who want to better understand how to work alongside faith-based organizations and communities
  • Community Members and Laity: Those who are actively involved in faith-based organizations and want to advocate for more education on mental health and addiction within their faith communities
