PRESS RELEASE: Carpenter Square Theatre annual fundraiser returns

Carpenter Square Theatre sends this information as posted below:

First it was stopped by the COVID-19 pandemic then delayed by the lengthy renovation of its new home, but now that the rehabilitation of the  post-war warehouse near downtown Oklahoma City is complete, Carpenter Square Theatre’s annual fundraiser finally returns. Best in Ten features short, ten-minute, plays presented as readers’ theatre by Oklahoma playwrights, a silent auction, and food by local restaurants.

The event also honors two people important to Carpenter Square Theatre. This year they are Ben Hall and Lisa Reagan Love. Hall is an actor, director, and scenic designer who has appeared on many local stages and in several major films including “Minari” and “Killers of the Flower Moon.” He’s being honored for his volunteer work with CST in the build-out of the building. Love is vocalist who was a resident member of the Washington National Opera for 20 years. Her latest recording is “What We Need is Here.” She is being honored for being the fist philanthropist to donate to the theatre’s capital campaign. The dressing room at CST bears her name.

Each honoree will read a play by Rick Allen Lippert. “I’m thrilled to have these two outstanding talents perform the lead roles in my plays,” said Lippert who is also the CST board chair. “And it’s especially exciting to have the Best in Ten again after a four-year hiatus,” he added.

Silent auction items include art by well-known local artists including Suzanne Wallace Mears and Farooq Karim along with gift certificates to The Metro Wine Bar & Bistro and Sean Cummings’ Irish Pub/Vito’s Italian Ristorante.

Best in Ten will be held at Carpenter Square Theatre, 1009 W. Reno, on Saturday, March 23 at 7:10pm. Free valet parking will be provided. Tickets may be purchased at carpentersquare.com or by calling 405-232-6500.
