Meet a local artist at the OKCMOA Store!

Dr. Daniel Molina, a successful Oklahoma artist and Chief of Research and Public Health at the Indian Health Services, is highly regarded within the medical community as well as the arts! His background has provided a meaningful and important connection to patients fighting cancer and cancer survivors. It’s through this lens that he has been inspired to create a series dedicated to them.

Visitors to the Museum Store may be familiar with Molina’s whimsical stick figure card series that comes to life with an app he developed himself, which transforms the images on the cards into dimensional dancing characters with fun music.

Check out this special one-night event! Meet Dr. Daniel Molina and shop new original art, limited-edition work, and fun merchandise.

WHAT WILL BE SOLD AT THE EVENT:

F* the Cancer – Artist description

This piece is a dedication to all cancer survivors, the current cancer warriors, and the loved ones remembered who we lost to cancer. As a physician, I have a unique perspective on cancer’s impact on my patients, but that role does not make me immune from the fear, the anger, and the heartbreak the disease causes. As an artist, I tell this story through a different lens, one that uses the real voices of cancer survivors, current warriors and those who have had loved ones taken. The spectrum of skin tones in the fists reminds us that the disease does not discriminate, impacting the rich, the poor, the saint, the sinner, the light, the dark, and all in between. The augmented reality reveals a battle scene in this war, punctuated by the battle cries piercing through Anton Bruckner’s Symphony No. 9. Without the augmented reality we are returned to the tribute image – a quiet, albeit colorful memorial to those who have battled and continue battling. F*ck the Cancer!
