PRESS RELEASE: April at the Paseo Arts & Creativity Center

The Paseo Arts District sends this information as posted below:

Oklahoma City, OK (March 14, 2024) – Every month, the Paseo Arts District hosts the First Friday Gallery Walk. This is a time where visitors can enjoy new artwork, live entertainment and great food, all within walking distance. In April, the Paseo Arts Association will display two exhibitions: Duets+ with Autism Oklahoma and the PACC Studio Artists. These shows will open with a reception on April 5 during First Friday, from 6-9pm at 3024 Paseo.

Duets+ is an annual exhibition that showcases the talents of artists on the spectrum. The exhibit is hosted by Autism Oklahoma and is displayed every April in the Paseo Arts and Creativity Center. Because the exhibit has grown since the previous years, Duets+ will be expanding into Gallery I and Gallery II of the PACC. The main idea of Duets+ is “two artists, two perspectives, joint art.” Each piece in this exhibit is a “duet painting,” made by the pairing of a neurodiverse artist and a neurotypical artist, all of which are a part of Autism Oklahoma’s programming. Visitors can meet the artists of Duets+ during the opening reception on April 5. Some artwork will be available for immediate purchase, while some will be available on Autism Oklahoma’s website.

Duets is one of Autism Oklahoma’s most popular programs and has received recognition for its representation of neurodiversity. Several pieces from the exhibit have been used for professional purposes, including product design for Kochendorfer Brewing Company in Duncan, OK. In 2023, the exhibit was featured in an episode of Gallery America, OETA’s Emmy-winning arts program. The episode can be viewed on OETA’s website.

In Gallery III, the PACC Studio Artists will be displaying a selection of their recent artwork. There are ten studio artists in the Paseo Arts and Creativity Center, all specialize in a different style of art. These include oil paints, embroidery, alcohol ink and more. Visitors can tour the PACC studios to meet the artists and to learn more about their current projects.
