OKC MLK Day events rescheduled for Saturday, January 27th

OKLAHOMA CITY — Organizers of the Oklahoma City Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of events including the parade have rescheduled the day’s events to Saturday, January 27th.

The date each year for the festivities and parade are on the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday which is coming up this Monday.

“The safety and well-being of our attendees, participants, and volunteers are of utmost importance to us, and we believe it is in everyone’s best interest to reschedule the events,” wrote MLK Alliance President William Jones in a notice sent to supporters.

A concern about extreme cold temperatures forecast caused enough concern to prompt the organizers to make the change.

The Schedule of Events, venues and times will all remain the same as on Jan.15th. We understand the significance of these events in commemorating the legacy of Martin Luther King Jr., and we will remain committed to providing a meaningful and safe experience for all.

For those who have registered for specific events or activities, your registrations will automatically carry over to the rescheduled date. If you are unable to attend on the new date, please contact William Jones (405) 306-8440 or Monica Murrell (405) 822-3274 to discuss your options.

The Volunteer/Participant Training scheduled for Saturday, January 13th has also been rescheduled:

New Date for Volunteer/Participant Training: January 20th, 2024 Location: Crossing Community Center

The organizers included this note about exceptions to this change: The MLK prayer breakfast or any other MLK events scheduled for the weekend will continue as planned.
