OKC Man with rifle confronted, shot by police Dec 23

OKLAHOMA CITY — On Saturday, Dec. 23 an Oklahoma City Police lieutenant confronted a man with a rifle who was firing into a residence on the near Southside.

During the confrontation, Lt. John Townsend fired one shot and hit the man with the rifle. The armed man and another suspect then ran from the scene.

The two suspects were later caught and booked into the Oklahoma County Jail on complaints “related to the shooting,” according to a press release by Master Sgt. Gary Knight with OKCPD.

The suspects now in custody on are:

  • Vandell Stubbs, 26 (man with the rifle, wounded)
  • Quintel Price, 28

After his arrest, Stubbs was taken to a local hospital where he was treated for a non-life-threatening wound.

Lt. Townsend has been placed on routine administrative leave pending the outcome of an investigation.

Note: As of publication, the information provided by the OKCPD has not yet been tested in court. Under the law, all persons are considered innocent until proven guilty before a jury of their peers or a plea of guilt.
