OKC man booked for murder in shooting death of wife

OKLAHOMA CITY — An Oklahoma City woman has died from gunshot wounds inflicted by her husband by his own admission to police and has since been booked for murder.

Wednesday, patrol officers with the Oklahoma City Police Department were sent to a business parking lot near S. Western and West I-240 on reports of a shooting.

911 operators reported that Mauricio Martinez, 33, had called and said that he just shot his wife.

Martinez remained at the scene until officers arrived.

He was taken into custody by OKCPD officers and troopers from the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

“The victim, 30-year-old Mariana Flores-Salazar, was found shot inside of a vehicle and transported to an area hospital,” a press release from OKCPD Sgt. Dillon Quirk said.

Flores-Salazar lived for four days in critical condition at a local hospital before dying from her wounds.

Police have now marked her death as Homicide #16 for the City of Oklahoma City in 2024.

The husband, Mauricio Martinez, was initially arrested on a complaint of Domestic Assault with a Deadly Weapon.

After the death of his wife, current booking complaints with the Oklahoma County Jail are as follows:

  • First Degree Murder
  • Shooting with Intent to Kill
  • Carry or Possess Firearm by Convicted Felon
  • Domestic Assault and Battery with a Deadly Weapon
  • Reckless Driving
