OKLAHOMA CITY – An OKC man has been booked into jail on a murder complaint following the discovery of his mother dead in a southeast Oklahoma City hotel room, but police say the full investigation is just beginning and could take time.
In the early hours of April 27th, just before 5:00am, police were called to a southeast OKC hotel to perform a welfare check on a woman in one of the rooms.
Entering the room, they found 79-year-old Carolyn Greenleaf deceased from what police have described as “severe physical injuries.”
Investigators believe that Greenleaf had been in the care of her son, 56-year-old Michael Patrick Greenleaf, at the time of her death.
Police located and interviewed Michael Greenleaf, leading to an arrest warrant issued later.

On May 1st, four days after Carolyn Greenleaf’s body was found, Michael Greenleaf was arrested and booked into the Oklahoma County Detention Center on a murder complaint.
The death of Carolyn Greenleaf has been recorded as Oklahoma City’s 24th homicide in 2026.
Oklahoma City Police say that the investigation is now ongoing, but is in its early stages and is expected to take time to complete. No further information was provided regarding the case’s complexity or what information or evidence is being investigated.
Note: Charges, information, or claims made by law enforcement have not yet been tested in court. Under the law, all persons are considered innocent until proven guilty before a jury of their peers or a plea of guilt.
