OKLAHOMA CITY — Leaders and activists have planned a community forum on the topic of police violence for Sunday, January 29.
The forum has been prompted by the brutal police beating death of Tyre Nichols in Memphis, TN earlier in the week.
Organizers have circulated a flyer promoting the event. Here is the statement on the flyer about the purpose of the event:
“In light of recent police violence, local leaders are hosting a forum to allow concerned members of the community to share concerns directly with local law enforcement leadership.”

“The five disgraced former Memphis Police Department officers, who are also Black, have been fired and charged with murder and other crimes in Nichols’ death three days after the arrest,” reports the Associated Press.
