New City of Okla City municipal judge sworn in

OKLAHOMA CITY — Kendal Huber Tawwater was sworn in as the newest municipal judge for the City of Oklahoma City Municipal Court in April.

Oklahoma City’s Municipal Court is a court of record and handles a high volume of cases on a continuous docket every year.

Huber Tawwater served as a Senior Administrative Law Judge for 6 years for the Oklahoma Corporation Commission in the Western Regional Service Office. She presided over hearings in the areas of the Enforcement Docket, Conservation Docket, Regulation Docket, Pollution Docket, Petroleum Storage Tank Docket, Transportation Docket, Emergency Docket and Motion Docket.

Judge Huber Tawwater received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Arizona State University in 1996 and a Juris Doctor degree from Oklahoma City University School of Law in 2001. In 2019, Judge Huber Tawwater attended the National Judicial College, Elements of Judicial Excellence in Reno, Nevada.

She is a member of the Oklahoma Bar Association, the Oklahoma County Bar Association and the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Oklahoma and served as Barrister for 3 years in the Luther Bohanon American Inn of Court XXIII.

Additionally Judge Huber Tawwater has participated in the POUND Judicial Institute Forum, completed Early Settlement, Basic Mediation and Alternative Dispute Resolution training in 2017 and received certification from John E. Reid and Associates, wherein she completed the Reid Technique’s Training of Investigative Interviewing and Positive Persuasion in Washington D.C., in 2015. 

Before being appointed as a Senior Administrative Law Judge in 2017, Judge Huber Tawwater practiced law in several areas in corporate capacities such as In-House Counsel, Corporate Counsel, Legal Counsel and Lead Litigation Counsel for different Oklahoma and international corporations.

Prior to Judge Huber Tawwater’s corporate positions, she was employed by an Oklahoma City law firm specializing in civil and criminal litigation.

In addition, Judge Huber Tawwater was an Adjunct Professor in the Robert M. Zinke, Energy Management Program – School of Business for The University of Oklahoma, guest lectures in the University Of Oklahoma College Of Law and is currently an Adjunct Professor in the University Of Oklahoma College Of Law, MLS Program teaching Environmental Law.
