NE Oklahoma City leaders to march against NE jail site proposal Wednesday morning

The Office of State Representative Jason Lowe sends this information as posted below:

OKLAHOMA CITY – In response to NE 23rd and Coltrane being added to the Oklahoma County Commissioners agenda for potential sites for selection for the new jail, NE Oklahoma City leaders will march from the proposed site back to downtown Oklahoma City to shed light on how far away the site is from the services people who are detained at the jail need. The over 2-hour march will stop briefly at service provider facilities, like the Diversion Hub and the City’s Bus Station, on their way to the Oklahoma County Courthouse where marchers will attend the Commissioners’ meeting at 9:00 AM to oppose the effort.

Marchers will gather at 6:00 AM Wednesday, February 21 at NE 23rd and Coltrane and make brief remarks before starting the march at 6:30 AM.

“My community has been very clear with the Commissioners—we are strongly opposed to the jail being built on the NE side of town. To say we are upset that our community has again been targeted is an understatement.” – Rep. Jason Lowe

WHAT: March and County Commissioner Meeting
