Man killed by bullet passing through wall; woman arrested

OKLAHOMA CITY — A man was shot and killed late Friday night after a bullet fired from a neighboring residence penetrated a wall and struck him, according to police.

It is homicide #28 for the City of Oklahoma City in 2025.

Patrol officers with the Oklahoma City Police Department responded to a shooting call at 11:54 p.m. May 30 at 4706 Sunnyview Drive. When they arrived, they found Billy Sorrels, 45, dead inside his home, according to OCPD MSgt. Gary Knight.

Police believe he was shot through a wall by a neighbor.

Detectives said Elisha Kirby, 30, fired a single shot from the doorway of her home. The bullet entered Sorrels’ residence and struck him, police believe.

Kirby was arrested on a complaint of second-degree murder and booked into the Oklahoma County Detention Center.

Authorities have not released details on what led up to the shooting or whether the two individuals knew each other.
