OKLAHOMA CITY — An OKC man has been booked for murder in the May, 2023 overdose death of a woman on Oklahoma City’s westside.

The death is now being counted as homicide #74 for the City of Oklahoma City in 2023.

On May 9, officers with the Oklahoma City Police Department found Salenea Joy North dead during a check-the-welfare call at 532 N. Rockwell Avenue on the westside. North had just turned 51 in April.

Detectives believed at the time that the death was caused by an overdose of pills provided to her by Jeromy Mark who was 35, and is now 36.

Friday, OKCPD said that they received the autopsy report from the Oklahoma State Medical Examiner’s Office.

The ME ruled that North “died of acute fentanyl and methamphetamine toxicity,” according to an OKCPD press release.

Based on the report, the Oklahoma County DA issued an arrest warrant on a charge of murder in the first degree.

Jeromy Mark was arrested Thursday, Dec. 28 by members of the U.S. Marshals Service and officers with the OKCPD.

Note: As of publication, the information provided by the OKCPD has not yet been tested in court. Under the law, all persons are considered innocent until proven guilty before a jury of their peers or a plea of guilt.
